Today we have just a couple new releases for your enjoyment:
First up is Pirate Radio (aka The Boat That Rocked), the latest film from Richard Curtis (who wrote Love Actually (also directed), Notting Hill, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Bridget Jones’ Diary and the great Black Adder series) and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and a few of my favorite Brit actors: Bill Nighy, Nick Frost, Emma Thompson and Rhys Ifans. Telling the mostly true story of a pirate radio station in the North Sea off the coast of England in the mid-sixties. Rock on!
And then we have something a little more serious, One Peace At A Time, a documentary described as
“A film about a messed up world… and how we could fix it.”
With music from Bob Dylan, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and Willie Nelson, the filmmaker journeyed to 20 countries as part of an effort to effect global change. Here’s a trailer that says a lot more than I can:
Some more recent and newish releases hitting the shelves today, like previewed copies of Lies And Illusions, Shrink, Where The Wild Things Are and 2012, plus more copies of Away We Go, Star Trek and Monsters Vs Aliens. I may have skipped mentioning that we also have brand spankin’ new copies of Sherlock Holmes in stock, as well as The Men Who Stare At Goats, Twilight Saga: New Moon, Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Blind Side.
Some other cool stuff includes a brand new unopened Mad Men season 2, Bruce Lee: The Master Collection (Fists Of Fury/The Chinese Connection/Return Of The Dragon/Game Of Death/Bruce Lee: The Legend) and a whole box full of stuff I haven’t even looked at yet. Okay, not true. I peeked. It’s loaded with cool stuff.
In other news, it seems that we were duped into thinking the Betamax thing was the wave of the future. I sent all that stuff back.
Happy Friday folks, let the (rainy) weekend begin!
Distracted by the sparkly vampires, the store manager completely forgot to mention the other new releases on shelves this week: The Men Who Stare At Goats; Nijna Assasssin; Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Blind Side. All brand new and never before touched by human hands.
By the way, if you missed Jessica’s blog post about TV shows, I highly recommend it.
